How to completely uninstall Grammarly Desktop on Mac
Dragging Grammarly to the Trash removes the app itself, but its support files, caches and settings stay on your Mac. Here is where they are and how to remove all of them.
Grammarly Desktop runs in the background from launch agents in your user Library and keeps its data under the identifier com.grammarly.ProjectLlama. Browser extensions for Safari, Chrome and other browsers are separate and are removed in each browser.
Quit Grammarly from its menu bar icon before moving it to the Trash. If macOS says the app is still open, Grammarly's support article says to turn off Launch at startup in its settings, restart the Mac and try again. Your documents and account stay on Grammarly's servers.
com.grammarly.ProjectLlamaRemove Grammarly by hand
- Quit Grammarly. If it has a menu bar icon or runs in the background, quit that too.
- Open the Applications folder and drag Grammarly to the Trash.
- In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G), paste each location below, and move what you find to the Trash. Not every location exists for every version.
- Empty the Trash, then restart your Mac so nothing from Grammarly is left running.

Diskzy finds Grammarly and the files listed here, shows the size of each one, and moves them to the Trash together. Files that another app also uses are left alone.
