How to completely uninstall Sublime Text on Mac

Dragging Sublime Text to the Trash removes the app itself, but its support files, caches and settings stay on your Mac. Here is where they are and how to remove all of them.

Good to know

Sublime Text keeps installed packages, your settings, key bindings, snippets and the session that remembers open files in ~/Library/Application Support/Sublime Text. Its index and cache are in ~/Library/Caches/Sublime Text.

Before you start

Copy the Packages/User folder from ~/Library/Application Support/Sublime Text if you want to keep your settings, key bindings and snippets. Unsaved tabs are held in the session files in the Local folder next to it, so save anything you need before removing it. Your licence key can be entered again after a reinstall.

Bundle identifier: com.sublimetext.4

Remove Sublime Text by hand

  1. Quit Sublime Text. If it has a menu bar icon or runs in the background, quit that too.
  2. Open the Applications folder and drag Sublime Text to the Trash.
  3. In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G), paste each location below, and move what you find to the Trash. Not every location exists for every version.
  4. Empty the Trash, then restart your Mac so nothing from Sublime Text is left running.

The quick way

Diskzy finds Sublime Text and the files listed here, shows the size of each one, and moves them to the Trash together. Files that another app also uses are left alone.
