How to completely uninstall TeamViewer on Mac

Dragging TeamViewer to the Trash removes the app itself, but its support files, caches and settings stay on your Mac. Here is where they are and how to remove all of them.

Good to know

TeamViewer installs a background service and launch items in /Library so it can accept connections before you log in. It has its own uninstaller that removes them, so use that instead of deleting system files by hand.

Before you start

Start with TeamViewer's own uninstaller: open TeamViewer, choose TeamViewer > Settings, go to Advanced, and use the Uninstall button at the bottom, ticking the option to delete configuration files. Dragging the app to the Trash leaves the service running in the background. If the app is already gone, reinstall it and uninstall from Settings. Note your TeamViewer ID if someone else uses it to reach this Mac.

Bundle identifier: com.teamviewer.TeamViewer

Remove TeamViewer by hand

  1. Quit TeamViewer. If it has a menu bar icon or runs in the background, quit that too.
  2. Open the Applications folder and drag TeamViewer to the Trash.
  3. In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G), paste each location below, and move what you find to the Trash. Not every location exists for every version.
  4. Empty the Trash, then restart your Mac so nothing from TeamViewer is left running.

The quick way

Diskzy finds TeamViewer and the files listed here, shows the size of each one, and moves them to the Trash together. Files that another app also uses are left alone.
