How to completely uninstall Discord on Mac

Dragging Discord to the Trash removes the app itself, but its support files, caches and settings stay on your Mac. Here is where they are and how to remove all of them.

Good to know

Nearly everything Discord leaves is in ~/Library/Application Support/discord, where the cache of images and media from the servers you browse grows over time.

Before you start

Quit Discord. Messages and servers are tied to your account, so nothing needs to be backed up.

Bundle identifier: com.hnc.Discord

Remove Discord by hand

  1. Quit Discord. If it has a menu bar icon or runs in the background, quit that too.
  2. Open the Applications folder and drag Discord to the Trash.
  3. In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G), paste each location below, and move what you find to the Trash. Not every location exists for every version.
  4. Empty the Trash, then restart your Mac so nothing from Discord is left running.

The quick way

Diskzy finds Discord and the files listed here, shows the size of each one, and moves them to the Trash together. Files that another app also uses are left alone.
