How to completely uninstall Zoom Workplace on Mac

Dragging Zoom to the Trash removes the app itself, but its support files, caches and settings stay on your Mac. Here is where they are and how to remove all of them.

Good to know

Zoom is installed from a package and adds a privileged helper and launch daemon in /Library, so removing the app alone leaves background pieces behind. The largest user data is usually local meeting recordings in ~/Documents/Zoom.

Before you start

Move any local recordings you want to keep out of ~/Documents/Zoom. Zoom's own menu also has an Uninstall command (zoom.us > Uninstall Zoom Workplace).

Bundle identifier: us.zoom.xos

Remove Zoom by hand

  1. Quit Zoom. If it has a menu bar icon or runs in the background, quit that too.
  2. Open the Applications folder and drag Zoom to the Trash.
  3. In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G), paste each location below, and move what you find to the Trash. Not every location exists for every version.
  4. Empty the Trash, then restart your Mac so nothing from Zoom is left running.

Where Zoom keeps its files

Other places Zoom uses

Items under /Library need your administrator password to remove.

The quick way

Diskzy finds Zoom and the files listed here, shows the size of each one, and moves them to the Trash together. Files that another app also uses are left alone.
